ALISON
HOMESTEAD HALF DAY OUTING AUGUST 2011
Tuesday 2nd
August was a glorious day for our half-day outing to Alison
Homestead, the home of Wyong District Museum and Historical
Society. At the corner of Alison & Cape Roads, Alison Homestead
is on Wyong’s first land grant in the 1820’s to William Cape
Snr. In 1875, William Alison Snr purchased the three Cape
properties at Wyong, but it’s not certain if a new homestead was
built or the existing cottage extensively
renovated.
We soaked up the sunshine and admired the peaceful rural views
from the front of the homestead, across the wide expanse of
green grass and paddocks. While some of our group stayed with
our very knowledgeable guide Roman on a tour of the rooms and
outside buildings, others happily sat chatting in sunny spots,
fed carrots to the two horses on the property or just wandered
at their own pace enjoying the gardens and displays.
Thank you
Robin for the photos and copy.
