The Beefsteak and Burgundy Club
celebrated 50 years in 2004 for which occasion extensive celebrations
were held including holding the 2004 Annual Convention in Adelaide.
The original Club, known for
convenience as 'The Adelaide Beefsteak and Burgundy Club', now has 181
active Branch Clubs, covering every Australian State and Territory and
seven countries overseas.
Each Club limits its membership
to 30. There are all male clubs, all ladies clubs and mixed clubs.
The objects of the Club: "To
promote good fellowship and goodwill amongst all sections of the
community. To further the education of its members and the community in
the appreciation and understanding of good food and wines."
Most Clubs meet monthly, but
some bi-monthly, for either luncheon or dinner. Many Dinner Clubs are
formal. At each meeting the Winemaster/Foodmaster will aim to present a
menu and wine which complement each other, and will provoke comment and
discussion, towards expanding the members' knowledge of these important
pleasures of life.
Membership is open to any adult
person of good repute. |
