BUSHCARE

Alloura Waters is situated next to Wetlands area which border part of Brisbane Waters.

Wetlands have been much reduced over the years.

Maintaining the health of remaining areas is essential to the wellbeing of the waters.

Bushcare groups are sponsored by Gosford City Council. Such a group was proposed for the wetlands north of Alloura Waters village towards the end of 2002. After meetings with a council Bushcare Officer, work was begun in February 2003.

The group led by Harold Welsh, meets on site between 9 and 12 noon on the first Friday of each month. It is supervised by a council employee who can identify weeds large and small, to be removed, and how to dispose of them. Regrowth of native vegetation is encouraged.
