The Association was incorporated in 1988. The hall which had previously been used as a picture theatre was in bad condition and in need of major repairs. Fundraising activities by the DPA are regularly held, with the money raised used to ensure the hall is maintained in good condition, for community use. Public Liability insurance is an ever-increasing cost. Trash and Treasure Markets have been held annually in January, and Market Days (with stall holders paying a small fee) have been popular throughout the year. The hall is used for activities such as karate, dance, exercises and play group.. It is also the only polling booth in Davistown for Council, State and Federal elections. During the Davistown Putt Putt Regatta which attracts large crowds to the waterfront, the hall is used by Kincumber Rotary Club for organisational purposes. The hall can also be hired for a variety of private functions. The Davistown Progress Association co-ordinates Clean Up Australia (yearly in March) locally with members helping to organise the publicity, volunteers and the transportation of the rubbish to a central pick-up point. As a lobby group making representations to Gosford Council and other agencies, the DPA plays a very important part in trying to ensure that the issues concerning our community are dealt with effectively. Meeting Time :- 7.30pm on the 2nd Wednesday of the month (February to December) Venue:-The Davistown Progress Association Hall, near Central Wharf |
