DISPUTES SUB-COMMITTEE

FUNCTIONS OF THE DISPUTES SUB-COMMITTEE

The Disputes Sub-Committee comprises only two members.  Nevertheless it is an important sub-committee.  Any problems which arise between residents, and which cannot be immediately resolved by management, can be referred to this sub-committee for its consideration and resolution if at all possible.  Under Section 125 of the NSW Retirement Villages Act, the Disputes Sub-Committee can also attempt to resolve disputes between the operator and a resident.  However, every resident has the right, under the Act, to go to the Tribunal to resolve any dispute.

Unlike other sub-committees, the Disputes Sub-Committee does not usually report to Forum as the matters it deals with are often confidential.  It does, however, report to the Residents’ Committee.
