Half Day Outing
WILDFLOWERS IN SEPTEMBER
On
Tuesday 6th some of us envied the group of
bushwalkers we met, setting out from Staples Lookout on the 4
hour loop-trail through Brisbane Water National Park to Mt
Wondabyne. It was a glorious Spring day for our half day
Village bus outing to view the wildflowers and we’d stopped at
Staples Lookout on Woy Woy Road to admire the excellent views
over Woy Woy Bay and Brisbane Water. We were greeted by the
melodious call of a Grey Shrike-Thrush.
More water views were appreciated when we had a
brief stop for morning tea and a chat, in the small reserve at
Correa Bay at the bottom of Bulls Hill, Woy Woy.
When we reached the area of Brisbane Water
National Park off the road to Patonga, some of us were able to
get up close to the wildflowers as we strolled along the sandy
road towards Warrah Trig and later in the area known as the
Waratah Patch. Others happily relaxed in the bus, spotting the
majestic displays from their seats.
The Spring
wildflower displays were spectacular
AND the
waratahs were in full bloom.
thank you
Robin for the story and photos
