Alloura Waters Soup and roll and fun day

 19th June 2011

91 Residents enjoyed a variety of  19 different soups, generously provided by 24 residents at little or no cost.

All were able to able to have at least two or three mugs served by the lovely ladies of the Social Sub Committee.

The pumpkin, mushroom, tomato, potato & leek, chicken & corn and vegetable soups were a lovely start from 14 soup chefs.

For the vegetable varieties, Marilyn beefed hers up, Norma got hers from the Black forest, Barbara Allen warmed up with some added curry, Barbara Thomas was continental with German Beans and Allen Edwards was thick.

The variations in Pea & Ham included Ham & Lentil, the traditional thick beautiful version and a pea & ham with unknown additions from Wes Weir.

Broccoli, Cauliflower, Legume and Minestrone went from the exotic to the erotic and Gloria’s Bean & Cous Cous was a meal in a mouthful. Vonnie’s bread was a hit and disappeared quickly

The socialising was extraordinary with many residents saying that they had a terrific day.

On the day we made $322.00 after expenses, thanks to the hard work of our super resident souper's provided at little cost, and this will go to residents general funds.

This is a day not to be missed. A great way to enjoy yourself on a winters day. Our thanks go to the Social Sub-Committee and the soup cooks.
