A Summerland Point Love Story
Even on a grey day, our
residents are able to appreciate the beauty of the Central Coast. We
admired the red of the spectacular flowering
bottlebrushes, the lush green of lawns, reserves &
paddocks and the masses of white flannel flowers as we
travelled via Terrigal & Budgewoi to reach Summerland Point. While
we enjoyed our picnic morning tea in the reserve on the shores of Lake
Macquarie, we spotted Oscar & Lucinda, very popular residents of the
area. The love story of this bonded pair of white geese
is heart-warming.
Back in July this year, the RSPCA was told that the female was suffering from a broken wing and she was driven to the Erina Heights Veterinary Hospital where treatment was offered free of charge. As the female goose was fretting without her mate, a member of the public took the gander to the RSPCA Central Coast Shelter where he was soon reunited with his lost love. The Shelter staff named them Oscar & Lucinda and cared for the pair together while Lucinda’s wing healed. It was
an exciting day for all involved when, early in September,
