University of the Third Age.

 U3A started in Paris in the early 1980’s quickly spreading to London where it developed from a university based form of learning to what it is today here in Gosford – a self-funded, locally based organisation  providing its own leaders/lecturers etc. in a variety of learning situations for older citizens.

·         A Central Coast branch was established  in 1996 and is now an independent organisation with a membership of 800 in 2011 and growing.

 

·         For an annual subscription of $30.00  members can enrol into as many  of the 70 courses on offer each year as they wish. To join contact:

·         Subjects range from the academic – History, Geology, Languages, Philosophy etc. through the arts – Cinema, Theatre to Meditation and Croquet.

 

·         At present (2005) these courses are being presented at 13 locations – Clubs/Libraries/ Community Centres etc. across the Central Coast.

·         A number of Alloura Waters residents are members of the U3A -  some have led courses over the years.
