VILLAGE TREASURER

FUNCTIONS OF THE VILLAGE TREASURER

 The Treasurer holds village funds raised from raffles, bus outings, entertainment etc, plus any monies collected by sub-committees and special interest groups for special purposes, eg Travel and Social.  He pays out monies through the petty cash system or by cheque, eg the village holds an account with a local supermarket to pay for items to keep the Community Centre kitchen stocked with tea, coffee etc.  The cheque-book held by the Treasurer requires two signatures and it is a good idea to give the bank the names of at least four residents who can co-sign cheques, to allow for absences.
