Vintage Grocery Store Museum and Centenary Centre Tour June 2011

The Vintage Grocery Store features original fixtures including old cedar counters, antique scales, vintage advertising signs as well as an amazing selection of yesteryear stock such as Arnott’s biscuit tins, Chief floor polish, tobacco tins and vintage medicinal aids.

Harold Murray age 92, our charming resident grocer, entertained us with his interesting stories of the old corner store of days past.

The Centenary Centre in Newcastle is home to a large display of antiques. 25 dealers display a huge variety of genuine antiques and old and interesting collectables

There was a wine tasting for those that wanted to partake, featuring some admirable Hunter Valley wines.

I managed to escape being put on display!
