The Waltztime Dancers

We had the Waltztime Dancers enthusiastically perform in our auditorium to an also enthusiastic audience of  86 residents and a few visitors. The men were attired in tails (and one in a tutu briefly) and the ladies had beautiful gowns from the elegant to the exotic. The group exhibited a wide range of dances with explanations and background for each set. All had danced competitively.

The booking list had 56 names and with the 80 plus attending some things such as sausage rolls were in short supply at afternoon tea. But food was not uppermost in the minds of residents afterwards as most wanted to talk about the wonderful memories that the dancers had evoked. The Social Committee were overwhelmed with the appreciation expressed by so many residents.

Residents were invited to join in a dance near the end and it was good to see that skills had not been forgotten.

Both the residents and the Waltztime Dancers had such a good time that a return visit is a must next year.

The following note was received which covers the thoughts expressed by many.

WALTZTIME DANCERS. A thousand thanks to those who organised the beautiful dance afternoon and to those who so elegantly danced their way into our memories. Memories I thought long forgotten were conjured up – the boy I met at the Rialto Dance hall, an instructor at the dancing class, who made learning so delightful and my many returns to the dance hall so much more rewarding ! To the tea dance in London where I danced with a romantic Hungarian, to Allan and I dancing through 7 nightclubs in Rome, and all the other happy dancing times over the years.  I am sure that many other residents who attended were spellbound as the happy dancing memories flooded over us all.

Thank you so much. Elizabeth.
