Workshop outing, June 2011
On Friday 17th June 2011 19 members and friends went to the Timber and Working with Wood show at the Sydney Precinct Entertainment Centre Moore Park. We left Alloura Waters in the village bus at 8.30 and arrived at the gates at about 10.15, there was a bit of delay getting the tickets but that got sorted out and we went into the old Hall of Industries to see a wonderful range of exhibitors of tools, machinery, equipment and accessories pertaining to woodwork.
Some good purchases were made by some of our group as
well as the workshop. There was a great display of exotic and Australian timber slabs and flitchs for sale, some very expensive. Lunch was available at various venues after which we went into the old Horden Pavilion and saw an amazing lot of displays of articles such as turned wood bowls, vases, lazy Susan's etc. Also furniture, boats toys and carvings....the workmanship and finishes were truly amazing and envied. By 2.15 we were all getting a bit tired and boarded the bus, arriving back at the village at about 4.15. Everybody said they enjoyed the day, and thanked our driver David. Workshop convenor, Trevor Dacey. |
